What
is HypnoBirthing?
HypnoBirthing
is a childbirth method. It is as much a philosophy of birth as
it is a technique for birthing.
HypnoBirthing is the gold standard of birthing with hypnosis.
HypnoBirthing is a unique childbirth education program teaching
a mother the fundamentals of creating the best that nature and
science have to offer to bring her baby into the world. The basic
tenet of the program is that childbirth is a normal, natural and
healthy function for women.
Giving birth is not a medical procedure, it is a natural process.
HypnoBirthing is a simple, straightforward program, thoughtfully
developed over the years to remind women of the simplicity of
birth itself. Just as the majority of birthing women do not need
interventions and procedures for safe and healthy birth, they
do not need a complex set of exercises and scripts to prepare
themselves for a peaceful, calm and comfortable birthing. The
birthing body and the baby know just what to do.
Birthing is a celebration of life
HypnoBirthing is designed to teach women to trust in nature’s
way of birth and to relax and let their bodies do what is needed.
By practicing a few key techniques, mothers program their minds
and condition their bodies to birth easily. When it comes to programming
and conditioning, variety is not necessary a good thing. Repetition
is what gets the best result.

The fear of childbirth
The statistics say that 6 to 10% of women experience intense fear
causing dysfunction, and 20 to 25% experience moderate fear associated
with intense worry; the fear of pain, death and physical injury
being the major causes of distress as well as horrible childbirth
stories told by family, friends and the media.
Fear causes the arteries leading to the uterus to constrict and
become tense, creating pain. In the absence of fear, the muscles
relax and become pliable, and the cervix is able to naturally
thin and open as the body pulsates rhythmically and expels the
baby with ease.
Fear
can also be experienced by fathers and by care givers and medical
staff who are therefore likely to follow strict policies and medical
establishment protocol (in case of litigation) rather than letting
the mother take the lead of her own experience.
In addressing the subject of fear in childbirth and working at
releasing the fear, HypnoBirthing offers an understanding and
compassionate support, and restores the woman’s trust in herself
and in her body so she can take control and be deservingly respected.
In reducing fear HypnoBirthing allows birthing to be what it should
be: a fulfilling, spiritual, rewarding and unique experience.
HypnoBirthing
can be beneficial to a woman who has special circumstances
or who must have a C section.
HypnoBirthing
is beneficial in many ways in case of special circumstances or
the need for a C section.
- Prenatal bonding encourages a positive connection between mother
and her unborn baby, being consciously aware of the moment and
engaging in the present.
- The breathing techniques help to slow the body down and facilitate
the body to take the anaesthesia easily. The deep breathing technique
brings relaxation and a more effective use of hypnosis. It is
also a quick way to calm oneself and to be consciously present
in the moment without stress. This is a simple and effective tool
for parenting, breast feeding and… life.
- The rainbow relaxation CD specifically created for the Mum to
relax and use her natural expulsive reflexes, is also a great
help to relax before, during and after surgery. It helps to recover
easier and quicker and hopefully with little or no pain at all.
This CD is also a wonderful tool for every stage of parenting
and everyday life.
- The releasing of fear included in HypnoBirthing empowers parents
and makes them calm and confident in any situation.
- The educational side of HypnoBirthing encourages parents to
ask questions before making their own choices in matter of birthing.
It teaches parents to investigate their options and learn as much
as possible when faced with special circumstances or a surgical
birth.
- Hypnotherapy helps reduce anxiety before and after surgery therefore
promoting healing and a speedy recovery.
“It
is not only that we want to bring about an easy labour without
risking injury to the mother or the child; we must go further.
We must understand that childbirth is fundamentally a spiritual
as well as a physical achievement… The birth of a child is the
ultimate perfection of human love.” Grantly Dick-Read 1953
